Sweet, savory, just a bit spicy, the perfect partner to weekend eggs and pancakes. This sausage is a wholesome take on an American classic.
Notes:
This recipe can also be used in soups, breakfast casserols or anything that calls for sausage. The slightly sweet and savory flavor is soooo so good. simple blend all the ingredients and cook without forming into balls for other recipes.
American Breakfast Sausage
Ingredients
1/2 lbs of ground pork
2 Tbs maple syrup
1/4 tsp dried sage
1/4 tsp dried thyme
1/2 tsp paprika
1/4 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp chili flakes
1/4 tsp rosemary
Freshly ground black pepper and sea salt to taste
1 Tbs avocado oil for cooking
Directions
Add all the ingredients to a large bowl and mix with your hands until fully combined.
Heat the oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
While the oil is heating, shape about 10 balls of the sausage mixture and flatten slightly into small patties (or cook meat as is without shaping for other recipes).
Once the oil is moderately hot, put the patties in the pan to cook for a few minutes per side, or until they are fully cooked through and browned on both sides.
Put the cooked sausage patties on a plate with a paper-towel to get rid of excess grease. They will be a bit sticky because of the maple syrup.
En guete, bon appetit, enjoy!!!
